Agency Summer Update

NEW Ways of Financing for Downsizers

We have become aware of – and attended a meeting about – a new downsizer product aimed at assisting asset-rich and cash-poor older people transition into accommodation more suitable for their senior years. Owners of the product already have interest from banks and are now targeting super funds. Aims are to secure substantial deposit funds without people first having to sell their family home. This could be very interesting for Agency members. We plan to start having serious discussions next year with developers and finance professionals who have expressed interest. One way to give us more to move forward with is if we are armed with useful information from our membership about their envisaged timeline for action on downsizing, number of bedrooms they’d be seeking (or satisfied with) and available up-front funds (if any).

New Cohousing Handbook Launched

Louise, Susan and Lyn attended the launch of a new Cohousing Handbook from Cohousing Australia on 25 August at UTS. Called Legal and Financial Pathways to Resident-led Housing in Australia, it’s a very useful resource and we encourage you to take a look at the (almost finished) version that is available currently online:

There is lots of interest in doing things differently and cohousing is starting to garner much more interest. OUR TIME IS COMING!
